why am i even trying anymore

I have had a long time to think after I watch all that doctor who. I wanted to like it, I really did but I can’t. Maybe I hate it because other people like it; maybe it is because it is fucking unbearable and stupid. It is a combination of the two. I don’t even know what more I can say.

sorry for doubting you doctor

Fuck Dr Who was amazing this week. I don’t want to turn into the someone who does nothing but Dr Who news, who the fuck am I kidding, that’s all I fucking do now. Anyway, this was incredible, it probably had more to do with Neil Gaiman writing the show than it did with the rest of the Dr Who producers but boy did this make up for the stinker delivered last week. I haven’t read anything by Neil Gaiman before but after this spectacular episode I am going to read his writing. I would like to write more intelligently about this but if you have read any of my previous posts you would probably know that that’s not possible, its funny how when I started this, I tried really hard to be as professional as possible but now I am just churning out as much bullshit as possible.

This episode had some of the most suspenseful, exciting and fun scenes I have ever seen from a Dr Who episode, I sincerely hope that the rest of the season will follow suit. I will try to watch something other than BBC iPlayer and write about that. I might even so and see some summer blockbusters, who the fuck knows

dr.who

So dr.who is back on, everybody’s favourite doctor amirite? So a while back I pretended to be clever and offered some constructive critisism to the writers of Dr. Who where I basically said that “I ain’t watching some childrens show because everything is to happy and shit” I am paraphrasing, if you really want to know what I said you can look though my extensive archives. Well it looks like the writers liked my suggestion and took it to heart. The new dr.who episodes were pretty good, I did not like them at the time of viewing but reflecting back on them does make them much better than some of the episodes from last season. Badger from Firefly was in this episode where he played a gay FBI agent helping the Doctor fight aliens who wipe your memory every time you turn away from them. The Doctor dies in the first episode but since this is a time travel show, he quickly comes back as his younger self. Pretty entertaining shit if you ask me.

One of my biggest complaints of Dr.who, pre these last two episodes was that it was a childrens show, obviously it is a childrens show, that is what it is fucking marketed as. The thing about children is that they don’t like being scared or having their main protagonists being murdered or feeling any hard ships. I on the other hand love a good murder on a show, tragedy used well can be a brilliant way to connect with a character. I recently watched Firefly. The thing about firefly is that literally every character is brutally wounded or tortured at one point and this really makes you fell for them. There is on particularly shocking scene in episode 14, where a bounty hunter threatens to rape Kaylee. It was pretty devastating. It is odd how “I am going to kill you” can be thrown around so casually but “I am going to rape you” is shocking and really powerful”. Firefly was amazing and I will probably write a little about that more in the future. I was going to write about Game of Thrones but that is still pretty early days. Once I get through a couple more episode I will probably grind some shit out.

unexcited

There is a lot of shit coming out lately at the cinemas and I don’t want to see any of it. Send me all the hyped up, overly edited trailers you want but there is noting on the horizon that is going to make me go to the cinema and buy a ticket to see a film. I know that probably seems really counter-productive for a person who claims to write about films but I write on here so rarely that it would not make a difference.

I really think that me not being excited for any films is because I am currently not in the possession of a television, I am not seeing any trailers on tv. I also run Adblock on my browser so I am not seeing any banner ads for films either. I guess you really do need to be marketed towards to get encouraged to consume media.

I’v watched a lot of television

I am a massive fan of the television show Community and I don’t even own a TV! (nor do I live in the United States) That joke was a lot better in my head, what were you expecting… its 3.30 am. Community is streets ahead. That phrase has been coined, coined and minted. I don’t think I have had the pleasure to watch such a delightful show in a very long time, if ever. This is brilliant comedy, comedy at its brilliant best. I watched all of the episodes of Community is a very short time, one episode after another and the sadness that ensued after I had watched all the episodes and had to wait a week for a new episode like chump was unbelievable. It is streets ahead. Go and watch it now.

I also watched some films, well 2 films. The first of which was The Prestige. I would firstly like to thank the people who decide to put films in BBC iPlayer. I spend so much time on that website. Well it’s another Christopher Nolan film, which the guys on the now defunct (D:) IFC News podcast is their favorite. I don’t want to rip them off but I will probably end up doing so because I want to do a Christopher Nolan post where I review and write about all of his films. I would have to watch all of them first which could take a while. I will save my review of The Prestige for that moment in time.

I made a top 10 list of 2010. It was so indept and exciting that I waited a full 2 months into 2011 to even mention it. It should be finished sometime soon so I will get that up.

I watched all of The Office, no not the one with Steve Carell!. The good one with Ricky Gervais. It was pretty good, of course it should be getting its own post sometime soon. I liked it but I was glad when it was over. I am sure the people who have also watched it will know what I mean by that.

So, get excited, I am back to writing semi-regularly and will getting some shit ready to post soon. Best Wishes

apparantly Youtube do films now

A while ago, during of my many all-nighters, I watched a film on youtube called Catching the Fever. I have no idea who directed it, who wrote it or any of the names of the actors starring in it but I watched it nonetheless.

The IMDB plot summary for this film is

Catching the Fever is a comedy about a guy who’s unhappy in his relationship with his girlfriend. His friends persuade him into dating other women while his girlfriend goes away on a business trip”

I would like to begin my saying that I did not laugh once during my entire viewing of the film. There were alot of issues, I am far too tired to list them all, maybe I should start taking notes during films but I fucking doubt I will ever do that. Our protagonist, who is a fucking dick if you don’t mind me saying so is a man who edits pornography for a living, I think this means that he cuts out all the parts when the women shit themselves. He is unhappy with his girlfriend not wanting to have sex with him every waking hour of the day, this coming from a man who openly admits to furiously masturbating every opportunity he gets. Here is my first problem with this movie relationship and film relationships in general, if you are unhappy with your current living situation. fucking leave. His attractive girlfriend goes on a business trip and he hangs out with Model friend of his. Hijinks ensue, he turns down sex on multiple occasions from very beautiful women but finally gives in when a woman threatens him with a taser. In the end of this, his girlfriend comes back, she still doesn’t want to have sex with him and they finally end it. It was fucking ridiculous.

going forward

Today I looked back on my previous posts and I realised that I have put in a lot of effort for not very much gain, no gain at all if you think about it. I am not really writing about shit I have watched because I think people will read it, I don’t do this because I think that my opinions are in anyway better than the opinions of anyone else, I do it for myself, because I like reading back on shit. That being said I have been watching some TV shows.

I watched the first two episodes of Peep Show. I started watching Peep Show when I started university and I have nothing to do, that was two months ago, not much has changed. I think the experience you get watching a Tv show, episode to episode, season to season is a very short amount of time is vastly superior to waiting for a new episode to come out every week. Sometimes I try to wait until a season is over so I can watch all the episodes back to back but I am very impatient and watch everything as soon as it comes out.

So the el dude brothers are back with a brand new season and it is still at its brilliant best, I think, as I have said before I am not a very good critic and I think that is a relatively good thing but that is another post entirely. The show is back, it is still funny, David Mitchell and Robert Webb look a lot older but that’s life bitch, you get fat and lose your hair, DEAL WITH IT. I am going to bed
